About the Author
Katherine Lykos is a Greek–Portuguese Australian writer working in science fiction, mystery, and speculative fiction.
She has a professional background in ecology and natural area restoration, which informs her interest in systems, unintended consequences, and how individuals navigate—and resist—complex institutional structures.
Katherine’s fiction blends noir-inflected investigation with speculative concepts such as time distortion, authoritarian control, technological overreach, and moral ambiguity, told through character-driven narratives set in dystopian futures and often softened by dry, observational humour.
Her memoir, Yiayia’s Doesn Madder Policy, was published in The Heart Messages Anthology (2024).
When she isn’t writing, Katherine can usually be found birdwatching, cooking elaborate meals, or reading and watching adventure stories that explore strange worlds and human resilience.
She believes speculative fiction is at its most powerful when it asks uncomfortable questions—and trusts readers to sit with the answers.
